One item file, one cost, every store
A multi-store point of sale keeps a single item record with the cost and the retail on it, and gives each store its own on-hand against that record. Two item files for one product is how the same SKU sells at two prices and counts as two lines at stocktake. The sheet takes one cost per unit and values both stores' stock against it.
Sales decrement the store that sold, transfers move units without a sale
Every sale at a register decrements that store's on-hand and no other; a transfer between stores is its own document that takes units off one store and puts them on the other at cost, with no revenue. The transfer sheet works how many units to move so both stores hold the same weeks of cover; the point of sale has to record that the move happened.
A count closes against the on-hand the registers built
At stocktake each store counts what is on the shelf and the point of sale compares it with the on-hand its sales and transfers have been building all month. What does a multi store POS need that a single store POS does not?
A per-store on-hand against one shared item file, a transfer document that moves stock between stores without a sale, and a count that closes per store. A single-store system has one on-hand and no transfers; add a second store to it and stock moved between them shows up as shrink at one and surplus at the other.
How do I decide how much stock to move between two stores?
Level the weeks of cover. Each store's units on hand divided by its weekly sales is its cover; the transfer that gives both the same cover is the units to move, and the free sheet on this site works it from four figures with no account. Whether you then reorder to a lead time plus a week is your call and the sheet shows the quantity.
Does Rollupvo replace the point of sale?
